Ken Onion 7-Piece Knife Block Set
Product Review An excellent starter set for the aspiring chef, this set consists of four knives, a pair of shears, honing steel, and a handsome bamboo storage block. Each knife combines Shun technology with the ergonomically curved Pakkawood handle designed by custom-knife designer, Ken Onion, to reduce fatigue. A razor-sharp work of art, a Shun knife turns everyday kitchen tasks, such as sandwich making and chopping onions, into a pleasurable experience, and tackles trickier cuisine demands with aplomb. The knives included in the set are a 3-inch paring, 5-inch utility, 8-inch chef's, and 9-inch bread. Designed to accommodate the Ken Onion bolster, the bamboo block contains 10 slots, which means more knives can be added. Shun knives, made in Japan by KAI (Kershaw Cutlery), are quite possibly the sharpest knives on the market. A Shun edge, formed to an acute 16-degree angle, won't bend or waver due to the hardness of the VG-10 steel core used in its construction. Clad with 32 layers of high-carbon stainless steel (16 on each side), the blade resists rusting and maintain its razor edge for a considerable time. Prized among chefs who value uniformly thin slices, a necessity in Asian cuisine, Shun knives are covered by a lifetime warranty and should be washed and dried-carefully-by hand, then stored in the included bamboo block. --Ann Bieri Included with this Product
